Cher Merlo
Assistant Production Manager
Art Department Coordinator
ON - Ontario District Council
My strong understanding of best practices and procedures lend significant value to screen- based entertainment companies at all levels. My ability to work with clients, cast and crew are second to none, as I continuously bring a learning attitude and high-level productivity through my industry knowledge and resulting ability to problem solve.
Most recently, I’ve been enjoying working in Production - working closely with managers and stakeholders to deal with production matters and logistics, while managing the myriad differences in personalities and expectations of cast and crew. Previous to this, during the pandemic, I had been working in the media industry under the mandated Health & Safety banner as Covid Supervisor.
I have also spent 20 years on set as a camera assistant plus over a decade, managing national departments at two of Canada’s well known film and television production equipment rental houses. All of this combined has given me a solid background in camera, lighting, grip and speciality equipment, project management, team fostering, research, quarterly performance and budget reporting to stakeholders, as well as overseeing websites, marketing materiel, sponsorships, attending conferences, developing and delivering presentations.
I have studied Circular Economy & Sustainability through the University of Cambridge; have enjoyed the training of Health & Safety Supervisor, Joint Health & Safety Committee, as well as Mental Health First Aid. This training has resulted in a deep familiarity with OHSA and Section 21 Industry Health & Safety.
In 2022, I was selected to participate in the Banff Spark Fellowship Program, a mentorship offering for women entrepreneurs in the media industry -- and evidence of my commitment to same. This forum is providing the opportunity to finely tune my executive level communications and interpersonal skills, to develop and strengthen relationships, and further add to my potential for linkages in service to content creation & content management.
