Now based in Toronto where he produces, directs and edits narrative and documentary feature films. In the past, Carl founded and presided over the King's Independent Filmmakers' Society where he made films for emerging independent filmmakers in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has directed and edited various music videos and short films including the genie-nominated short comedy The Big Thing and Man Depot.
An alumnus of the TIFF Talent Lab, and the Feature Film Project, Carl went on to co-produce and direct Sheltered Life a feature drama that debuted at the Perspective Canada Cannes in 2008. He produced his second feature: The Death (and Life) of Carl Naardlinger (released theatrically in 2018, directed by Katherine Schlemmer, 92 mins). Carl is currently producing and directing a feature documentary on foundational physics and developing various feature films as well as narrative and documentary television series.
