Joining The DGC
Thank you for your interest in joining the Directors Guild of Canada - Alberta District Council.
In Alberta the level of membership depends on experience. If you are an active Alberta Registered Permittee and you have worked a minimum of 90 workdays on 3 different Alberta Signatory productions, you qualify for Membership.
If you are not an active Registered Permittee, your application will be evaluated to assess your level of relevant experience gained over 150 workdays, worked over a minimum of 3 productions, in a position equivalent to a category represented by the DGC in the District you are applying to. The same applies to those who are already a Member of another Guild/Union and wanting to become a Member of the Alberta DGC.
In Alberta there are 2 different types of Membership:
Associate Membership - Production Assistant or Trainee in all departments.
Full Membership - Everything above a Production Assistant or Trainee.
HOW TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP:
1. Determine if your industry experience falls within a job category that is represented by the Alberta District Council (ADC). Review what positions are covered by the ADC here.
2. Call or email the ADC office and confirm that you are eligible for Membership. 1-403-217-8672 & dgc@dgcalberta.ca
- If you are not a Registered Permittee with 90 workdays on 3 Alberta Productions you likely do not qualify for Membership with the ADC, and need to join the Registered Permittee program. Click here to find out, what it means, to become a ADC Registered Permittee and contact the ADC office if you have questions that cannot be answered by looking at our website.
- If you are a Member of another Union in Alberta or in another Canadian Province or with the DGA, please make contact with the ADC office for next steps.
