Directors Guild commends $8 million government boost for screen based industries

Toronto & Regina – Directors Guild of Canada President Warren P. Sonoda and DGC Saskatchewan Chair Lowell Dean congratulated the Government of Saskatchewan on the announcement of increased funding for the Creative Saskatchewan Production Grant Program. This new grant increase, revealed in the provincial budget, brings the original $2 million investment up to $10 million for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

“This boost to the Production Grant Program here in Saskatchewan is crucial, not only to show that Saskatchewan is open for business in the production sector, but to retain our top talent and creative minds, and rebuild our province’s industry,” said DGC Saskatchewan Chair Lowell Dean.

“This investment from the Government of Saskatchewan will have a strong ripple effect across the creative sector and the entire economy of Saskatchewan, and it’s another advancement for the film & television industry in Canada,” added DGC President Warren P. Sonoda. “Getting the film & television industry in Saskatchewan back on its feet will take time, but the DGC is committed to the province and ensuring Saskatchewan can be a part of meeting the robust demand we’re seeing for new content.”
