DGC GIVES EARLY THUMBS-UP TO HERITAGE CANADA CONSULTATION PROCESS
Canada’s professional film and TV directors are giving the Federal Heritage Ministry a vote of confidence after the Government released new details about its upcoming consultation on Canadian cultural content in a digital world.
Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) president Tim Southam offered the praise in response to a consultation paper released by the Ministry of Canadian Heritage earlier this week. The paper sets out Government’s focus as it heads into the next phase of its reflection on Canadian Culture in a Digital Age.
The Government priority for the process – finalized after reviewing over 10,000 submissions from Canadians over the spring – is to identify practical ways to strengthen diverse Canadian cultural content in a world where music, film and printed word are increasingly delivered on digital platforms with a global reach.
