Brian Baker to remain at the Guild as Senior Advisor

Toronto – The Directors Guild of Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Forget as the new National Executive Director of the DGC, effective July 1st.

“We are thrilled that Dave Forget has agreed to lead our staff at the Guild,” stated DGC President Tim Southam. “In his three years as Director of Policy, Dave has built a stronger presence for the Guild in Ottawa than ever before and played an instrumental leadership role in our successful campaign to have last year’s disastrous Group Licence Renewals sent back to the CRTC. I know Dave will bring that same level of excellence to his new role as National Executive Director.”

Outgoing National Executive Director Brian Baker will take on the role of Senior Advisor based out of the Guild’s Montreal office.

“We have built an impeccable team at the Guild’s National office and across our District Councils,” said Forget. “I’m so glad Brian Baker will remain a part of the DGC National family and further expand our presence in his home province of Quebec.”

Southam added: “I want to thank the brilliant Brian Baker for his 12 years of outstanding service, helping to build one of the most effective and professional organizations in our sector.”

Dave Forget takes on this new role building on a nearly 40-year career in film & television.

Forget first joined the Guild in 2015, following a 14-year career with Telefilm where he held various management roles, including his last in which he held responsibility for the organization’s business affairs as the Director, Business Affairs and Certification.

Prior to working at Telefilm, Dave held various management positions in over 20 years in film distribution, including at Red Sky Entertainment, 20th Century Fox and Alliance Atlantis Releasing.
