DGC SUPPORTS IATSE PUSH FOR FAIR DEAL

Directors Guild stands in solidarity on curbing the long hours culture in film & TV

Toronto – The Directors Guild of Canada issued the following statement with respect to ongoing labour negotiations in the American film & television industry.

“This week, members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees from 36 locals across the United States cast a historic vote to authorize strike action in their negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.”

“With 90% turnout and 98.7% support, this overwhelming vote only underscores the broad and growing determination of workers in our industry to tackle issues like the long hours culture and the high stress working conditions that are taking a toll on the health and well-being of cast & crew.”

“The Directors Guild of Canada hopes that our American counterparts reach a fair and equitable agreement soon, but the DGC will always stand first and foremost with those seeking to improve the lives and working conditions of those we work alongside.”

“As negotiations continue in Los Angeles, we monitor the situation and keep our members informed of any impact action in the US may have on Canadian production.”
