Director Chloé Leriche is the recipient the Borsos Award for Best Canadian Feature and the Best Borsos Director Award at the 2016 Whistler Film Festival for her film AVANT LES RUES. The winners were announced yesterday at the awards ceremony in Whistler. Leriche took home the prize of $15,000 for her first feature film. The film tells the story of a young man who commits a crime and as a result banishes himself. It is the first feature film ever shot in the Atikamekw language.

Leriche won the DGC Discovery Award for AVANT LES RUES at this year’s DGC Awards on October 22nd. The DGC Discovery Award recognizes a Canadian director whose feature film reflects a bold, new cinematic voice.
