HAVEN Helpline is here for you

Every Canadian has the right to a respectful workplace free from harassment, discrimination and violence - and that includes freedom from racism in the workplace.

The DGC, ACTRA and Equity have renamed the HAVEN Helpline: Harassment, Anti-racism and Violence Emergency Network (formerly Harassment and Violence Emergency Network). This name change is meant to highlight the fact that racism in the workplace is a form of harassment and to ensure that members are aware of anti-racism supports included in the helpline’s full range of services.

Our confidential 24/7 bilingual reporting service (provided through Morneau Shepell) remains available to help members deal with the many issues facing our industry today. This includes trauma-informed counselling and reporting incidents involving discrimination, harassment, violence, accidents and other emergencies related to the workplace and set. Additional resources, such as confidential counselling services, and total well-being support are also available

DGC members can also request a counsellor of a specific race/ethnicity, religion or LGBT identity for short-term counselling and staff have received additional training on handling inclusive requests and honouring such requests in a responsible and supportive way. There are significant inequities related to how individuals experience the world and, as such, Morneau Shepell will do its best to accommodate these requests when they are clinically appropriate and conducive to a safe and positive counselling experience.
