In honour of the 2016 edition of Hot Docs, the NDD hosted a dinner on May 4^th  in Toronto for Canadian Documentary Filmmakers with features and short docs at Hot Docs. An initiative suggested by the newly minted DGC Documentary committee, the dinner welcomed 26 filmmakers including Award-winning documentarian and DGC Member Sturla Gunnarsson who welcomed everyone.

The filmmakers in attedance were: 

Barry Greenwald, Rama Rau, Nettie Wild, Morgan White, Rhoda Buckley, Daniel Cross, Christy Garland, Adam Irving, Ali Kazimi, Min Sook Lee, Nimisha Mukerji, Brett Story, John Walker, Darby Wheeler and Matt Zimbel.
