Before now, psychotherapy services were covered by DGC Benefits under Levels 1, 2 and 3 only when the service was provided by a psychologist. These services were also eligible for reimbursement if you had a Health Spending Account (HSA).

Now psychology coverage options are expanded to include licensed psychotherapists in B.C., ON and QUE

Starting February 1, 2018, psychotherapy provided by licensed psychotherapists will also be covered under all three Levels 1, 2, and 3 of DGC Benefits – if they are provided in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec where psychotherapists are regulated.

The maximum benefit payable for all services under the psychology benefit is combined and is limited to $2,000 per person per year. Practitioners include the following licensed practitioners: psychologists, social workers, registered clinical counselors (BC only) and now psychotherapists.
