DGC ONTARIO STAFF

As a Member of DGC Ontario, you have access to our dedicated staff, made up of the Production Department, Membership Department, Communications Department, Finance and Administration Department and the Executive Office. Please note that DGC Ontario offices are operational, and staff members are available Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm EST. MEMBERSHIP FAQ

DGC Ontario has created a Membership FAQ to address the most frequently asked questions that our Members have. This comprehensive FAQ covers topics such as the role of the Executive Board, Membership Status, Dues and Rejoining, Upgrades, RSP and Health & Welfare Benefits Plan and many more. The FAQ comes with a user-friendly Table of Contents that assists the Member in finding the info that they are searching for and when applicable, includes contact info should a Member need additional assistance.

RESOURCES FOR TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT 

DGC Ontario has created a Resources for Temporary Employment one-sheet in an effort to provide some suggestions for alternate temporary employment while we await a resolution of the labour unrest in the US. This is not an exhaustive list and can be continuously updated with relevant suggestions.

MEMBER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Member and Family Assistance Plan (MAP) is a confidential counselling and referral service available to all DGC Members in Good Standing, their spouses and dependent children. Services are available in multiple languages and can be accessed in a variety of ways (phone, email, internet, phone apps, live online chat, and video).

Services are delivered by LifeWorks (formerly Morneau Shepell), a leading provider of member and family assistance programs in North America. The professional, confidential support and customized resources provided under the MAP are available to help you deal with a wide array of personal and work-life issues.

DUES, BENEFITS AND RSP

DGC Dues

DGC Membership dues are payable quarterly, but may also be paid annually, and there is usually a discount for full payment in advance. Annual dues for Full Members are $750, and annual dues for Associate Members are $450. 

Members are invoiced via email at least 30 days before the following dues deadlines: December 31st, March 31st, June 30th and September 30th. 

Members can also access dues information such as balance and invoices by logging on to this website’s Members Section.

DGC Member Benefits

DGC Benefits is the benefits plan provided under the DGC Health & Welfare Trust for Members of the DGC. 

Joining the plan is automatic if you meet the eligibility requirements. Once you enrolled, you will need to re-enroll each year (usually in November) to confirm your coverage needs.

 DGC Retirement Savings Plan

Canadian Entertainment Industry Retirement Plan (CEIRP)

The purpose of your Canadian Entertainment Industry Retirement Plan (CEIRP) program (the Plan) is to encourage and provide a mechanism for employees and Members who work in the entertainment industry to save funds for retirement and other significant financial goals, such as education and home purchase.

Members can only withdraw their RRSPs after age 55 if they joined the CEIRP before October 1, 2019, and age 60 if they joined CEIRP after October 1, 2019.

Access to the funds in Members’ corporate NRSP accounts are also subject to the same age limitations. 

Outside of the age limitations, there are only three other circumstances under which one can access their RRSPs: 

1. Extreme Hardship Withdrawal Policy (Email rsp@dgc.ca for more information)

2. Home Buyers Plan

3. Lifelong Learning Plan

INTERNAL GRIEVANCE PROCESS

A complaint may be made against a Member by another Member or by the Executive of DGC Ontario as long as all information required in Article C.1 of By-Law No. 1 is provided and as long as the issue does not fall under the jurisdiction of the employer under Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act legislation regarding workplace harassment or violence.

This is the section of our website where all weekly and daily available jobs are posted. The job boards are continuously updated to reflect real-time availability. 

HOT LIST

This is the section of our website where you will find the current production list, commonly referred to as the “Hot List.” This document contains information on all productions in Ontario in Pre-Production, Production or Post-Production, and is updated daily. The Hot List also has a “Rumours” section showing productions that are speculatively coming to Ontario.  

STANDARD AGREEMENT 

Here is where you will find the 2023-25 DGC/CMPA Standard Agreement, comprised of the Core, Directors and District Council Schedules. The Ontario Schedule contains most of the practical provisions for work in Ontario, specifically addressing workweek structure, payroll premiums, holidays, benefit payments, nearby and distant location provisions, lay-off and termination, screen credits, minimum staffing, etc.

CRAFT AWARD TRAVEL GRANT POLICY

DGC Ontario Members receiving nominations for Awards by international professional associations or unions and guilds in the entertainment industry are eligible to receive a travel grant to facilitate their attendance at the presentation ceremony, most of which would be in Los Angeles, as long as the work was performed on a DGC Ontario signatory production or post-only production.  Please click here to read the DGC Ontario Craft Award Travel Grant Policy in full.
