Amplifying the Appeals of the Indigenous Leaders in this Country
This July 1st, DGC Ontario is choosing to amplify the appeals of the Indigenous leaders in this country.
In the words of Perry Bellegarde, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, “It is a day to recognize that it is a beautiful country, but there are some terrible things that have happened.”
Rather than celebrate a history that erases the brutalities that took place on this land, we encourage you to spend the holiday learning and reflecting on this country’s past and current injustices toward Indigenous Peoples.
Below is a list of educational resources:
-
National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls: Calls for Justice
-
University of Alberta’s Indigenous Canada (Free 12 lesson course explores Indigenous histories and contemporary issues from an Indigenous perspective.)
