DGC Ontario Executive Board votes to increase AFC funding by up to $100,000
In response to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and the consequential impact felt by the production industry in our province, the Executive Board of DGC Ontario has unanimously voted to increase our financial contribution to the AFC by up to $100,000 in addition to our regular annual contribution of $60,000. The new funds will be available retroactively from August 1 until the end of November, to directly subsidize help for our Members during this time of need.
DGC Ontario is a long-time partner and supporter of the AFC and its vital work providing emergency financial assistance to workers in the Canadian entertainment industry. Over the years, the AFC has supported hundreds of DGC Members in need nationwide. Many entertainment unions across North America work with organizations like the AFC as a reliable arm's length partner to help their Members fairly and confidentially.
DGC Ontario Members in urgent financial need who cannot cover their immediate essential expenses can apply for aid here.
Financial support from the AFC is intended as an emergency safety net and not as income replacement. It is not a loan and does not require repayment. You can apply to the AFC if you earn most of your income from entertainment industry work and have done so for at least 2 of the last 4 years. Click here for specific details about how the AFC can help you.
Please note that the AFC is receiving an extremely high number of applications, and they ask for your patience as they process them.
There is no doubt that these are challenging times, but we remain hopeful that the labour unrest south of the border will be resolved and that our industry will be back to business as usual.
