2021 has been an unprecedented year, posing challenges and opportunities for us all that we could have never imagined. And as the year comes to a close, we wanted to take this moment to let you all know how incredibly proud we are of the way you rose to meet the demands of the insatiable tidal wave of content production across the province while continuing to work with astonishing grace through an ever-evolving pandemic. As a Guild, 2021 has been our busiest year ever with DGC Ontario Members and staff servicing a staggering 177 signatory productions, and we thank you all for seamlessly pivoting to a “new normal” when nothing about 2021 was normal at all.

But this year has not been without repercussions for us all, so we must acknowledge the importance of tending to our mental and physical health and to each other. We hope that you will use this holiday season as a well-deserved break to rest, recharge and to reflect on the impact this year has had on our community. While this last week has brought alarming news regarding the ever-changing COVID-19 variants, we hope you all find the opportunity to safely celebrate the holidays with people you love, and nourish yourselves both physically and mentally.

We are so fiercely proud of your tenacity, ingenuity and dedication to storytelling and craft under such extraordinary circumstances and regardless of what 2022 brings, we have no doubt that you will once again rise to meet the year with leadership, compassion, and courage.

We wish you a safe and restful holiday and a Happy New Year!

Annie and Victoria
