EXECUTIVE BOARD OFFICERS

CHAIR

BETHAN MOWAT

Bethan has worked in the film and television industry as an assistant director for over 15 years. She has worked on both Quebecois and American productions in various countries including the US, China, Czech Republic, Morocco as well as in most provinces across Canada. Starting out in 2008 as the AD rep of the DGC Quebec Executive Board she got elected to take on the same position at the national level in 2013. She has been vice-chair of the Quebec Board from 2012 to 2016. In addition to loving the adrenaline of working on film sets and in a team, she also loves travelling and discovering new places, ideas and foods.


 

VICE-CHAIR

MICHÈLE LALIBERTÉ

Michèle Laliberté completed her studies in architecture at the Université de Montréal and completed her training as a Set Designer at the National Theater School of Canada. Before beginning her film career, she designed sets, costumes and accessories for several plays in Montreal and nearby regions. In 1998, she made her film debut as a Graphic Artist and Assistant Art Director on Grey Owl. Since then, she has worked as an Art Director on American productions such as; The Aviator, Catch Me if You Can, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Smurfs II, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. She also was the Production Designer for features such as The Words in 2011, Stonewall and more recently for part of the filming of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. In 2019, Michèle is returning to the Executive Board after a short passage in 2012-2013.


 

SECRETARY-TREASURER

ANDREAS KATRAVAS 

Andreas has been working in accounting in the film industry for over 7 years. After successfully completing his Bachelor's degree in Finance in 2015, a small contract ignited in him a great love for the film industry.

For Andreas, our industry represents a source of inspiration for the general public; it is a way to travel through time and space, convey experiences and feelings as well as share stories and dreams.

With a specialization in financial analysis, Andreas is committed to the growth of our industry in Quebec.


 

DIRECTORS REPRESENTATIVE

TRISTAN DUBOIS

Tristan was born in Switzerland in 1975 and immigrated to Quebec in 1984. After obtaining his college degree in cinema, Tristan decided to follow acting in order to broaden his field of becoming a better director. He entered the Conservatoire d'art dramatique of Montreal in 1997, at the end of his studies in 2000, he received a leading role in the hit TV series Tribu.com. In 2005, he was one of 29 directors accepted at the American Film Institute Conservatory (AFI) in Hollywood. Since then, Tristan has directed a number of feature films for television including a nomination for Best Director and Best Picture at the 2015 DGC Awards and the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards, as well as numerous short films, video clips, commercials and video games. He collaborated on the screenwriting of a few feature films at Parallaxes, including La Chute de Sparte and Mort-Terrain, co-written with Biz. Tristan is also a representative for the Quebec directors on the Executive Board at the Directors Guild of Canada as well as the National Director Division.


 

ASSISTANT DIRECTORS REPRESENTATIVE

KEVEN PARENT

Working since 2011 in the film and television industry, Keven joined the DGC in 2015 as a 3rd Assistant Director. His desire to improve the working conditions of Assistant Directors led him to get involved in several DGC committees such as the selection committee for new Trainees, the atypical career committee, the membership committee and the collective agreement negotiation committee. Keven has worked on several projects, both American and domestic. Currently, he has been working as a 2nd Assistant Director for almost 6 years and hopes to become 1st Assistant Director in the near future.

ART DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE

ISABELLE GUAY

Isabelle Guay is an Art Director and Production Designer who developed her film design sensibility working for the most innovative and acclaimed filmmakers in the business today. Her credits include such notable films as Pawn Sacrifice, White House Down, Mirror Mirror, and The Fountain. Isabelle comes from a fine arts background and joined the DGC in 1994. In addition to her film work, she has a love of photography, which she combines with a passion for scuba diving in tropical and arctic climates. She has been a member of the DGC Quebec Executive Board since 2014.

LOCATIONS DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE

ADRIAN KNIGHT

Since graduating from Concordia University with a BFA in Film Studies in 1994, Adrian Knight has worked as a Location Manager, working mainly on Films and Television series, both American and Québécois. As an active member of the film community, Adrian regularly takes professional development training and participates in forums, discussions and working groups relating to the Locations Department. Since 2017 Adrian has served as Locations Department Caucus Representative at the DGC Québec District Council, and since 2020 has served as National Locations Department Representative on the DGC National Executive Board. Member of the DGC, ACTRA, the QFTC and the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), Adrian is committed to the service he can provide to his peers and colleagues in Location Management and the Entertainment Industry as a whole.

MICHÈLE ST-ARNAUD

While studying Business Administration at UQAM, Michèle St-Arnaud found herself on a film set in the summer of 1977 (Peter Collinson's Tomorrow Never Comes) and thus began her career, which to date includes more than 75 productions, mostly for the big screen. She worked her way up through the ranks on features by notable Quebec filmmakers, and then, at the turn of the year 2000, joined the influx of American shooting, both on independent films and mega-productions. She considers herself particularly fortunate to have worked with Denis Villeneuve on Arrival, David Fincher on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Stephen Spielberg on Catch Me if You Can and The Terminal, and Roland Emmerich on his last 4 projects in Montreal.

In 2019, the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) awarded her the prize for best locations in a contemporary TV series for the 1st season of Jack Ryan and, since 2020, she is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

FABRICE BARRILLIET

Fabrice Barrilliet has been working in the film industry since 1989. After working as a lighting technician for almost 10 years, he turned to assistant directing in 1998. As a 3rd Assistant, he works on Quebec productions, films and series, as well as large-scale American productions. His greatest pleasure? Period films and staging large numbers of extras.

At the same time, he took part in several commercials and short film shoots as 1st Assistant Director, climbed the ladder and developed, wrote, directed and produced his own projects. In 2008, after 2 short films and a few advertising projects, he co-directed and co-produced the film Lucidité Passagère.

Today, with a wealth of experience in all areas and genres of film (drama, series, documentary, Imax and commercials) and having worked in several countries, Fabrice seeks out unique projects that bring with them their share of technical and artistic complexities.

The desire to improve working conditions and find a balance between professional and private life for Assistant Directors is his primary reason for being a member of DGC Quebec's Executive Board.

VINCENT GINGRAS-LIBERALI

Vincent Liberali began his professional career as an architect before being seduced by the captivating world of cinema. It was as Set Designer that he began working on The Day After Tomorrow in 2002, and since then he has worked on numerous productions. Over the years, his role in the Art Department has evolved and his interactions with the various players involved in film creation have grown. Now a Supervising Art Director, Vincent is an experienced administrator for whom the worker is at the center of every project. The well-being of his colleagues, but also the health of the industry are the sources of his commitment to this board. For some years now, Vincent has been involved with the DGC, regularly collaborating on various committees and participating in the training of new members.
