It is with great sadness that we learned the terrible news of the death of Jean-Marc Vallée, DGC Director.

The President of the Quebec District Council, Bethan Mowat, stated:

"Jean-Marc Vallée influenced the careers of so many people in the Quebec film community with his passion, charisma and encouragement to excel. He was an inspiration to many of us, a pure creative talent at the top of his game. He will be greatly missed."

Guild National President Warren Sonoda issued the following statement:

"Jean-Marc was a strong advocate for Canadian film and his fellow Guild members. Always ready to host a screening, present an award, lead a master class or even share his love of music as a DJ at a TIFF party, Jean-Marc's joy and dedication were endless."

Jean-Marc Vallée's success had become international. He continued to be involved in the local film community and participated in many Guild events, for which we will always be grateful. He was a deeply generous person who was eager to share his passions.

Our condolences to his family and friends.
