L'Aparté | HAVEN Helpline Stop Harassment — End of Story!

L'APARTÉ

L'Aparté was created as a result of the #metoo movement, when the need to offer assistance to individuals suffering from harassment and violence in the cultural sector has been manifested. In this context, professional associations and organizations, including the Directors Guild of Canada met to decide on an action plan aiming at acting against any form of harassment in the sector. L'Aparté is one of the elements of this action plan.

Since September 2018, L'Aparté provides first assistance to all the people from the cultural sector who suffered or witnessed harassment (psychological or sexual) or violence at work (sexual assault). For that purpose, they are able to receive, support, guide individuals who are in need of help through different steps and appeals to undertake. Their objective is first and foremost to understand the needs of their clients and simplify the legal, medical and psychological process that will best suit their situation. Their services are offered in English and in French.

You can contact them by calling 450 396-9449 or 1 833 LAPARTE, or by writing to them at aparte@juripop.org.

STOP HARASSMENT – END OF STORY!

In the wake of the allegations of inappropriate behavior in Quebec's cultural industry, several groups have joined forces to develop tools to help create a workplace free of harassment. Our environment is distinct, the variety of trades and workplaces creates complexity in understanding what harassment may be in such a workplace. But what constitutes harassment in our environment? How to recognize it? Who has the responsibility to stop the harassment? What prevention methods should be used? Are we obliged to denounce? As a worker, what is our role in prevention?

Stop Harassment — End of Story! is a digital online training platform that answers these questions and many more. The Harassment Prevention Certification is now mandatory for anyone wishing to join the Guild and for all Guild members who wish to upgrade categories.
